The Referral Process

Step 1 – Initial Enquiry

Complete the online enquiry form or contact AOSE directly.

This provides an opportunity to discuss the child’s needs and explore whether AOSE may be an appropriate source of support.

Step 2 – Consultation

An initial conversation will take place to gain a better understanding of:

  • the child’s strengths and interests,

  • current challenges,

  • educational circumstances,

  • and desired outcomes.

Step 3 – Information Gathering

Where appropriate, information may be gathered from:

  • parents/carers,

  • schools,

  • SENCos,

  • Local Authorities,

  • and other professionals.

This helps ensure support is tailored to the individual child.

Step 4 – Support Planning

A personalised support plan will be developed based on the child's individual needs, strengths, and goals.

Step 5 – Beginning Support

Support sessions begin and are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain appropriate and beneficial.
